The Swedish podcast Musik i Film (Music in Film) has the same name as the interest org. I am chariman and one of the founders of. It was supposed to only be about Composers and film Music but rather quickly it occured to me that I wanted to talk to Directors, Producers, Sound people, Actors etc. too. With the red thread though being Music. A podcast about Film Music, Game Music and the Film Industry in general. So far all episodes have been in Swedish.
The Award winning Conduct This franchise include games on different platforms and different versions. Conduct This!, Conduct Deluxe!, Conduct AR!, Conduct World! And now conduct Together! for the Nintendo Switch — arriving on eShop, December 6th.
The nostalgic game Music I made for the franchise is heard on all the games. An honor to be part of this franchise.
I have been given the honor to both host and being the chairman of the jury at Live Score Festival Stockholm. It’s a festival truly celebrating Film Music. The Festival features short films with original scores performed live-to-picture. This is the first time such a festival is being held in Sweden and the festival is presented by The Prod in association with Kulturama, Musiker Utan Gränser (Musicians without Borders), Shortly and Musik i Film (MusiF) which is a non profit org. that wish to bring knowledge, interest and more value to Film Music in Sweden. An art sometimes overlooked. Selected film Composers have been paired with filmmakers to create an original score for the festival.
The festival is held at Kulturama in Stockholm, Sweden this sunday and the jury I’ve gathered are fantastic:
Richard Jarnhed (Director)
Thomas Lindahl (Composer, Teacher)
Hans Lundgren (Composer)
Joakim Tillman (Associate Professor in musicology and Author)
Shari Strandmark (Director)
Marina Nyström (Director, Actress)
Mikael Carlsson (Label Owner, Concert Producer, Composer)
Alexandra Nilsson (Composer, Board Member of SKAP)
As you might know I composed all the Music to the second season of Svartsjön, or Black Lake as it is called internationally. In october the season premiers and Viaplay and Swedish TV3 have released a teaser.
It’s not my Music in this teaser, you have to wait to hear my score a little while longer.
Some of you might already know that I have produced a documentary about the Swedish artist Moneybrother (Anders Wendin), the Swedish director Titus Paar and the Swedish org. Ankarstiftelsen. The Foundation (Ankarstiftelsen) build schools in South America and help the poor and those in need. This great Project resulted in a feature documentary directed by Titus Paar, edited by Lars Gustafsson (in Austin Texas). The DoP Bratislav Stankovic captured some great fotage in the jungle and in Colombia overall.
This is a really emotional and warm film that I am proud of being a part of.
I also composed the Music to the film, together with Moneybrother.
I really had a blast from start to finish working with this great series! I composed the Music to all 8 episodes and worked with my wonderful friend and Tulpa-Brother Richard Jarnhed (who directed the first four episodes). I also, for the first time, worked with director Per Simonsson (who directed episode 5-8) whom I really enjoyed working with! I would love to Work with Per (and of course Richard) again!
The season will be aired in october so I will for sure get back to this later on! So many wonderful people involved in this Project!
Inspiration is Paramount working with art. I am Always inspired by the Picture I am scoring but it’s also important to bring something to it. Other films and series are of course inspiring and also listening to podcast’s and in my case hosting podcast’s.
Nothing really compares to being out in nature though. Places were photos don’t capture the majestic feeling and the breathtaking views. Inspiration for me also comes by Reading and meeting people. If you boil it down it’s stories really and keeping the imagination going. For me imagination is like a muscle, you need to keep in shape and train it.
This summer I ran a summer camp like I normally do but for once I only took on one Group of leaders and kids. It’s so rewarding and to do something other than I normally do is lot’s of fun. It’s the warmest summer in Sweden ever (or at least since we started recording temp. some 260 years ago) which meant lot’s of bathing in the ocean and in mountain lakes. Me and my partner spent time in the most Southern parts of Sweden and also up in the North. We went canoeing in wonderful places and had a blast with friends and family.
I really needed some time “off” and probably I did not got enough time to really wind down but I should not complain.
I held a lecture on Film Music on Stockholm University tonight and I spoke for two hours. I truly like the format and I showed the students material from the films, games and TV-series I’ve composed music for. A truly honoring experience and I gladly return next semester.
Thank you for the invite Joakim Tillman, Associate Professor in musicology at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics.
