On the 14th of January 2023 my debut art exhibition “Is the Sky Falling Down?” (Faller Himlen Ner?) took place in Stockholm at Pershagen Gallery. A record breaking 300+ people visited the exhibition which focused on cosmic horror, otherworldly buildings and ethereal views. Musical instruments, normally so familiar, here become estranged, weaving a red thread through the images endlessly twisting and metamorphic.
All this provokes an idea that life is incomprehensible to the human mind and that the universe is fundamentally alien.
The Gallery wrote this about the exhibition and its creator:
Simon Kölle started working with digital visual arts relatively recently, but he has extensive experience in art, music, martial arts and storytelling in various forms. The technique is chaotic, processing own photographs, improvisation and Simon produces his paintings on a computer.
Sources of inspiration for the exhibition are mainly:
Hieronymus Bosch, Mumtaz Ahmad, David Lynch, Jeremy Mann, Mario Panciera, Simon Heath, Richard Jarnhed, Erik Bolin, Hilma Kölle, Yusaf Parvez, Yoji Shinkawa, H.P. Lovecraft, Salvador Dali, Gustav Doré, John Harris, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Francis Bacon, Miyamoto Musashi and Marc Simonetti.
The art exhibition was inaugurated by the renowned international artist Mumtaz Seyd Ahmad, who during his extensive career has become famous for his surrealist art that inspired Salvador Dali and Joan Miro. Mumtaz thus took me under his wing giving me valuable advice about both life and art. A huge honor.
More than half of the 29 art works were sold and the exhibition was considered a success.
