After five years in the making. Me and my fellow composer on this score, Joel Forssell, did a version of this score for some 4 years ago but as the edit changed and the look as well, we and the director felt that we needed an almost completely new score. Only 3-4 cues (of 41) was kept from the earlier version and during august and September we have finished the new score for this Crime/Thriller set in a small town in Sweden during the 80s.
Now we have handed the score over to the celebrated and esteemed Sound mixer/editor/designers Ken Skoglund and Lasse Liljeholm.
Plot: In a Swedish town in the 80s, two strangers ends up by accident in the middle of a drug deal.
I am nominated in two categories at the very first festival that screen The Huntress – Rune of the Dead. It’s a festival in Palm Springs, California, called Queen of the Palm International Film Festival.
I am nominated for the Score and Best Producer. In total the film is nominated in 13 categories which is by far the film with the most nominations at the festival.
The Score will be released shortly by the great label MovieScore Media.

Not only was it my first soundtrack, it was also the first time I worked with the mastermind Richard Jarnhed. As I write this, me and Richard have worked together on 15 Projects and we also run a Company called Tulpa Creatives.
I have been a fan of MovieScore Media for a while now so it’s a very good feeling to be released on that great label. Ave Mater (Vilsen) is a score I am very proud of. Click HERE to go to MovieScore Medias page about the score.
Composing the score meant me setting out on a journey to create something dark, exciting and filled with suspense, but not horror. Rasmus was rather clear that he felt that the music should be the ‘beating heart and soul of the film’, a true guide throughout the story. To work with a couple of clear themes got important with the choir and the cello became crucial to capture the feeling of the occult.
Simon just won the award of recognition for the score to Vilsen (Ave Mater). The film also won prize for best picture and best director (Rasmus Tirzitis).
Vilsen (Ave Mater) was nominated in the category of Best foreign picture, but still won the Best picture with 100’s contribution to compete against. The film festival is called Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival (HIMPFF) and is held several times during the year. In January 2017 all the winning entries of 2016 will compete in a large ceremonies contest.
Simon is greatful and happy and this will give him a great push with finishing the score of Vitt Skräp (White Trash) in just a couple of days.
The feature Vilsen that Simon scored and produced will have its release on VOD via Lucky Dogs in Octobe (get back to you about it)r.
The score will be released but it’s not settled which label that will release it.
The music in the film is playing a major part.
Genre: Crime / Thriller
